Short Term: Increased understanding and use of the intellectual property (IP) system by the Recipient; increased understanding of the needs of peoples represented and/or targeted; development of new research and guidance related to the protection of IP, Indigenous knowledge (IK), and Indigenous cultural expressions (ICEs).
New grant agreement signed in Q4 2021-2022
The Indigenous Intellectual Property (IP) Grant aims to support Indigenous IP awareness and capacity building, to enable participation of Indigenous representatives in the development and implementation of policy and programs at both the domestic and international level relating to the relationship between the IP system and the protection of traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions. The program seeks ultimately to improve the inclusiveness of the IP system.
