Description:

This project will allow Honda to retool its Alliston, Ontario plant for the next evolution of automobile manufacturing, building on a previous investment from the Strategic Innovation Fund in new hybrid-electric powertrain technology. The changes will allow the plant to manufacture hybrid-electric vehicles to curb global emissions. The project’s work phase is scheduled to end on March 31, 2028.

Expected Results:

This project will bolster efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The upgrades to the plant will implement new and innovative technologies, processes, supply chain and vehicle research and development programs, as a part of Honda's goal to reach zero emissions by 2040. The project will also see the plant in Alliston, Ontario become a leader in hybrid electric vehicle production. This project will maintain 3,750 full-time jobs in Alliston and support jobs throughout Honda's extensive Canadian supplier network.
