Description:
This project will establish a good
manufacturing practice (GMP)-ready
Chemical Manufacturing Facility at
the Edmonton Research Park in
Edmonton, Alberta. The facility will
provide commercial-scale chemical
manufacturing capacity focused on
the production of lipids and other
critical pharmaceutical materials used
in advanced therapeutics, vaccines,
and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) systems.The project’s work phase is scheduled to end on March 31, 2029.

Expected Results:
The investment will allow Northern
RNA to possess enhanced domestic
manufacturing capacity for
strategically important pharmaceutical
inputs, supporting Canadian supply
chain resilience, increased

manufactured materials required for advanced therapeutics and vaccine
development. The project will further
strengthen Canada's
biomanufacturing ecosystem through
investment in infrastructure,
equipment, and highly qualified
personnel.
