Grants and Contributions:
Through the activities supported by the program, the CFI is expected to help enhance the capacity of Ultimate Recipients to: (a) attract and retain the world’s top research talent; (b) train the next generation of researchers; (c) enable researchers to undertake world-class research and technology development that lead to social, economic and environmental benefits for Canada; and, (d) support private sector innovation and commercialization.
The value changed from $4,314,365,000 to $4,143,339,294 as per contribution amendment 5 for the period 2018/19 to 2030/31.
The CFI provides funding for research infrastructure at Canadian universities, colleges, research hospitals and non-profit research institutions in order to strengthen their capacity to carry out world-class research and technology development for the benefit of Canadians.
