The investment will allow the company to upgrade their coating application process and buy new equipment in order to produce an aluminum-silicon coated press-hardenable steel, known as USIBOR. With this investment, ArcelorMittal will be the only Canadian supplier of this steel product to service the growing demand in the Canadian and Northern US regions.
The amendment has been completed to change the recipient's legal name from "ArcelorMittal Dofasco MP Inc." to "ArcelorMittal Canada MP Inc. and add ArcelorMittal Dofasco G.P." and to extend the agreement end date from January 1, 2032, to January 1, 2034. This is partially repayable contribution.
-Encourage R&D that will accelerate technology transfer and commercialization of innovative products, processes and services;-Facilitate the growth and expansion of firms in Canada;-Attract and retain large scale investments to Canada; and-Advance industrial research, development and technology demonstration through collaboration between academia, non-profit organizations and the private sector.
