This project will strengthen Canada's response to COVID-19 and build Canada's long term emergency preparedness. It will build its capacity for the production of the middle filter layer commonly used in the manufacturing of respirators and surgical masks, which is also known as meltblown polypropylene. It will also, through R&D, identify more environmentally sustainable material options and products for PPE. This project will enable the company to create and maintain 21 jobs.
The amendment extends the agreement end date from December 31, 2032 to June 30, 2033. This is a non-repayable contribution.
-Encourage R&D that will accelerate technology transfer and commercialization of innovative products, processes and services;-Facilitate the growth and expansion of firms in Canada;-Attract and retain large scale investments to Canada; and-Advance industrial research, development and technology demonstration through collaboration between academia, non-profit organizations and the private sector.
