$50,000.00
Agreement Date:

Description:
The City of Kimberley’s paved pathway network is a vital corridor for the community. It promotes active transportation and access to community resources and recreation. Additionally this paved pathway network is part of the Trans Canada Trail connecting Kimberley to Cranbrook, an important connection encouraging active transportation between communities. At present there are five sections of paved pathways that provide access to City of Kimberley public services, amenities and residential communities. One of the currently undeveloped core connections is located between the current terminus of the Rails to Trails pathway at Rotary Drive through to the core of Kimberley. The ideal solution to creating this 3km connection is to utilize the existing, non-active rail bed as well as the trestle bridge passing over Highway 95A. Completing this section of paved pathway would provide safe access to a diversity of users via a largely un-interrupted, separated non-motorized greenway to the downtown core, provide access to and from the current section of pathway leading from the Townsite community, Kimberley’s Selkirk High School and numerous other public services, and amenities. The goals of this project are to: 1)Determine feasibility of the identified route 2)Seek input from stakeholders 3)Determine funding needs
