Title:
New Multi Use Pathway on Millar Avenue
Agreement Number:
-
Agreement Value:
$50,000.00
Agreement Date:
Jan 5, 2023 - Mar 31, 2024
Description:
The Active Transportation Plan approved by Saskatoon City Council in 2016 identified Millar Avenue as a priority for a future All Ages and Abilities (AAA) cycling route and recommended that sidewalks be installed on at least one side of the street. The project will include the assessment, engagement, and design of a multi-use pathway for Millar Avenue from 43rd Street to Marquis Drive. Multi-use pathways benefit all users, including vulnerable populations. The multi-use pathway will provide connections in the cycling network (existing multi-use pathway on Marquis Drive), to transit service, and is expected to improve the safety of active transportation in the area, in addition to improving access to and within this employment area. The project will include an assessment of the existing conditions along the corridor, identify opportunities and challenges, evaluate alternatives, complete stakeholder engagement, and preparation of the design. Design will consider intersection treatments, appropriate locations for pedestrian ramps, driveway crossing treatments, utility conflicts, and connections to existing facilities, etc. Two rounds of engagement are anticipated.
