Description:
Two public housing buildings operated by the Grande Spirit Foundation in DeBolt, Alberta that were situated alongside a creek were abandoned in 2016 due to a slope failure of the creekbank on the property. A geotechnical engineer evaluated the slope failure, and recommended the buildings be demolished or relocated due to potential for additional slope failures/movement. The properties were demolished in 2022 leaving a vacant lot in the middle of the community. The properties require restoration/naturalization to support stabilization of the creek bed, and beautify the vacant lot in the middle of the community.
