Kingston/Greenwood Bridge Study: Actively Connecting Two Communities in Kings County, Nova Scotia
Agreement Number:
-
Agreement Value:
$50,000.00
Agreement Date:
Oct 18, 2024 - Mar 31, 2026
Description:
The Municipality of the County of Kings is seeking funding for a concept design study to evaluate the potential to add two bridges along a roadway corridor that links two communities together. The Village of Kingston and Greenwood are connected by one road, Bridge Street, which has two bridges on it. Presently, the brides do not have room for safe, accessible active transportation (whether it is walking, wheeling, or cycling); although on the west side of the roadway, there are safe active transportation opportunities on the roadways leading to the bridges. Our concept design would include finding a way to improve active transportation along the bridges, which could include adding a non-motorized walkway onto the bridge, or adding a separate non-motorized bridge that runs parallel to the bridge.
