Program Purpose:

Criminal legal aid funding is provided to help support access to legal services for economically disadvantaged persons living in Canada accused of serious criminal offences as well as youth charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Funding for Immigration and Refugee Legal Aid is also provided pursuant to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for individuals appearing at immigration and refugee proceedings.
