Description:
This project aims to contribute to the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (UNDA) and Action Plan, by creating circles of discussion and a symposium on Individual and collective Women rights with the representatives of the 10 Nations in Quebec. Following these events, a policy framework will be created on Indigenous women’s leadership in UNDA implementation.

Program Purpose:

The Indigenous Partnership Fund supports ongoing consultation and cooperation with Indigenous peoples to implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UN Declaration), the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (UN Declaration Act) and measures included in the UN Declaration Act Action Plan.

Implementation of the Action Plan and the UN Declaration, in consultation and cooperation with First Nations, Inuit and Métis, will contribute to the Government of Canada’s continued efforts to break down barriers, combat systemic racism and discrimination, close socio-economic gaps, and promote greater equality and prosperity for Indigenous peoples.

Justice Canada will provide funding to support Indigenous peoples’ continued participation in the various implementation, monitoring and oversight processes described in the Action Plan.
