Description:
The program will create a full-time position called Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Wellness and Community Support Worker. The position will support the creation and delivery of culturally responsive and respectful appropriate trauma-informed health and wellness supports for individuals impacted by the issue. The program will focus on supporting families, survivors of gender-based violence, 2SLGBTQI+ individuals and communities. The strategy to support community outreach, record keeping, and client information management will be created. Counseling will utilize a strength-based, dignified, client centered, and barrier-free approach. Programming will include aspects of holistic wellness, all components relating to a client's well-being including emotional, physical, mental, spiritual, and cultural needs. NAWN will develop programming and facilitate educational and social programs based on needs, training tools, workshops, and wellness strategies.
