Agreement Value:

Agreement Date:
Jul 15, 2026 - Mar 31, 2029
Description:
This project adapts Atira’s Early Resolution Program (ERP) into a dedicated youth-focused stream designed to serve Indigenous, Black, and racialized young women (ages 12–17) who are currently involved in the criminal justice system under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). The youth restorative justice stream will build on ERP’s proven trauma-informed and outreach-based model, while tailoring supports, advocacy, and diversion strategies to meet the distinct developmental and cultural needs of youth. By centering youth voice, cultural identity, and community accountability, this project will ensure that young women are not further criminalized for circumstances rooted in trauma, poverty, and systemic racism. Instead, they will be offered meaningful opportunities to repair harm, access support, and reintegrate into their communities with dignity and hope.
