Description:
Yukon Aboriginal Women's Council will hold two culturally grounded, land-based outreach gatherings for families of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls (MMIWG) in Yukon. The gatherings will bring families and community members together in Watson Lake and Old Crow for sharing circles and other traditional grieving and healing methods. This project will result in increased peer support and access to culturally safe healing spaces for families impacted by this national tragedy during the National Inquiry into MMIWG in remote, hard to reach northern communities. A Cultural advisors working group will coordinate supports for families and will work in collaboration with Yukon's Family Information Liaison Unit.
