Description:
Through the Intergenerational Youth Initiative, the Indian Residential School Survivors Society proposes to enhance its cultural health and healing program and community awareness initiatives to include a specific youth focussed component to better serve Indigenous youth involved in the justice system. Specifically, the project will aim to provide access to appropriate culturally sensitive programming to justice-involved Indigenous youth as well as support to their family and extended community members who are caring for them. In addition, the project will include an educational and awareness component for other stakeholders involved with these youth regarding the reasons for and effective responses to addressing the over-representation of Indigenous youth in the justice system.
