Description:
The Courtworker Upskilling Program project will focus on updating the Courtworker training manual from 2016 in both English and Inkutitut languages. Kitkmeot Legal Centre will facilitate 1-2 in person training sessions with 10 Courtworkers based on the updated manual. There will also be an online refresher training as a follow up to the in-person training.

Since 1978, the Department through the Indigenous Courtwork Program makes contributions to provincial/territorial governments through bilateral multi-year cost-sharing contribution agreements to support the provision of culturally competent services to Indigenous persons charged with an offence under federal or provincial statute or municipal by-law or otherwise involved in the justice system.
