Description:
The Inuit Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) established the Inuit Film Video Archives in 2014-2015. The organization holds a video collection that includes approximately 9,000 hours of Inuit language video capturing cultural, social and political developments of Inuit since the mid-1970s. This project will involve archival activities related to this collection and includes the renewal of archival software, updating database records, migration of records to an asset management system, and renewed training for IBC staff.

Expected Results:

In this project, the Inuit Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) aims to achieve the following results: 1) increased capacity to use CatDV; 2) increased number of videocassette (item level) records established in robust, searchable, digital asset management system connected to and backed up by Inuit Film & Video Archives (IFVA) servers in Iqaluit; 3) improved readiness to receive and associate digital video proxy files with their catalogue records; 4) enhanced availability of metadata; and 5) increased readiness for IFVA to receive and archive external video requests from IBC, educational institutions, researchers and the general public.
