Description:
In this project, Them Days will conclude phase 2 of the Labrador Image Identification and Dissemination Initiative (popularly known as #IDThemDays), completing the photographic identification and database-building activities already underway. This includes archival research and meeting with community members to identify people, primarily Indigenous peoples of Labrador, in several thousand negatives, slides, and photographic prints. Once the organization has identified and catalogued the images appropriately, they will begin uploading them to their online portal at the end of the year.
Organization:
Library and Archives Canada
Expected Results:

The organization will identify a few thousand images, update their database with this new information, and organize these holdings internally. The organization will then digitize several thousand images and produce oral history interviews and magazine content based on this identification work. In addition, the organization plans to engage new audiences; upload selected photos to the online portal; increase online access; and provide information on photos that identifies the subjects accurately and does not use colonial descriptions used in the past.
