Description:
CHPF houses an extensive archive of over 100,000 photographic images by Canadian photographers. It is the aim of the Foundation to digitize and preserve the negatives, slides and prints in the archive and freely disseminate these images to the public. In 2001, George Hunter and his colleagues formed the CHPF with the intent to promote and preserve Canadian photography. In celebration of this twenty-year anniversary, some of the CHPF founding members have donated photographic negatives, prints or slides to the archive. As such, CHPF is proposing to digitize 4000 of these images to preserve them for future generations.

Expected Results:

The expected results of the project are:
- Create uncompressed TIFF images for preservation of photographs
- Create JPEG images for public viewing
- Clean up metadata associated with image
- Have metadata correctly translated to be accessible to both French and English speakers in Canada
- Preservation of collection
- Update of archival records
- Promotion and exposure of CHPF collection of photographs
- Create access to collection and increase social media following and website visits
