Description:
This project will preserve the significant documentary heritage of the Nova Scotia Avon River area. It will ensure that local memory is documented and accessible to current and future generations. The project will collect oral histories and convert and digitize archival records including oral histories, photographs, paintings and documents for increased and safe public access to the collection. It will migrate an archival collection to an online database to improve catalogue- and access-based management. The project will also conserve and preserve valuable and fragile documents to an archival standard.

Expected Results:
A) 2415 pages in 57 collections digitized and ready to upload to an on-line database. Collection ready to be shared on-line. Improved long-term capacity to digitize our archival collection. Target: 2415 pages in 57 collections
B) 57 collections with 293 archival standard descriptions uploaded with option to transcribe 200 items. Collections also shared via our website/social media). Target: 30,000 viewers of 57 collections with 293 archival descriptions
C) 10 oral interviews collected, transcribed and digitized and shared on-line, accessed by up to approximately 30,000 on-line visitors. Target: 30,000 viewers annually
D) 338 archival items stored with archival grade envelopes, boxes, and shelving. Our archival collection remains safe and secure. Target: 338 archival items.
