Description:
This project will support the Okanagan Indian Band to research, design and produce virtual and physical displays on Syilx heritage. The exhibition will be displayed in indoor and outdoor spaces in the OKIB community, including the new Cultural Arbor and Cultural Immersion School at Komasket Park, as well as in two new Cultural Centres in the District of Lake Country and Silver Star Mountain Resort for the education and pleasure of local residents and tourists.

Expected Results:

Short-term results include:
- The identification of priorities for Syilx heritage documentation and preservation by the Working Group.
- Development of collaborations and knowledge/resource sharing with external partners in the documentary heritage community.
- Increased videography capacity of OKIB staff.
- Completion of 2-5 film clips and recorded oral history interviews on Syilx heritage.
- Reclaiming Syilx Language and Cultural Heritage exhibition displayed in OKIB community
Long-term results include:
- Exhibition displayed at the District of Lake Country and Silver Start Mountain Resort Cultural Centres, and other venues.
- Visits by OKIB members (population 1900) to exhibit, and potential visits by Vernon area teachers and other interested residents of Vernon (population 40,116);
