Grants and Contributions:
Short-term results include:
- The identification of priorities for Syilx heritage documentation and preservation by the Working Group.
- Development of collaborations and knowledge/resource sharing with external partners in the documentary heritage community.
- Increased videography capacity of OKIB staff.
- Completion of 2-5 film clips and recorded oral history interviews on Syilx heritage.
- Reclaiming Syilx Language and Cultural Heritage exhibition displayed in OKIB community
Long-term results include:
- Exhibition displayed at the District of Lake Country and Silver Start Mountain Resort Cultural Centres, and other venues.
- Visits by OKIB members (population 1900) to exhibit, and potential visits by Vernon area teachers and other interested residents of Vernon (population 40,116);
The Documentary Heritage Communities Program supports the development of Canada's local archival and library communities by increasing their capacity to preserve, provide access to, and promote local documentary heritage.
