Description:
The project aims to better preserve photo albums from the Canadian Pacific Railway fonds. These albums will be described and digitized in accordance with strict archival standards using the appropriate equipment—a plane scanner—to prevent their condition from worsening. The content of the albums will thereby be more easily accessible and discoverable. The images will be publicly disseminated and used in many outreach projects.

Expected Results:

Expected results are mainly in two areas (1) improving the conservation of the archival collection of the Canadian Railroad Historical Association (CRHA), including prioritizing the conservation of photo albums with advanced degradation; and (2) increased accessibility and use of the Centre's archives by Canadians and other international researchers, through an external access to the images, among other things. Moreover, the project will increase the public's awareness of the CRHA's archives.
