Description:
The project to digitize La Parole and The Spokesman involves preserving these newspapers digitally and making them publicly accessible online. A bilingual project, it will feature French and English newspapers. The requirements for the project overall include setting up a digitization room, training employees, procuring optical character-recognition software and developing a user-friendly web interface.

Expected Results:

Two main results are expected. The first is the digitization of around 62,500 pages of the papers La Parole and The Spokesman from 1926 to 1976, respecting the conservation standards established by BAnQ, namely 300 dpi .tiff. The second follows the first phase and corresponds to the online launch of a website of around 4,108 editions of the papers La Parole and The Spokesman and two search tools.
