Description:
The Société d’histoire du Lac-Saint-Jean is seeking to digitize and publish approximately 22,000 photos from the Jean le Photographe fonds, in order to preserve these visual archives, which bear witness to sixty years of regional history, and make them accessible to the public. The images will be filed in the photo module of the Société d’histoire du Lac-Saint-Jean’s database, on the organization’s website. This will give researchers access to the photo bank online.
Organization:
Library and Archives Canada
Expected Results:

The project will ensure the longevity of the Jean le Photographe fonds, and the fonds will be accessible to researchers. As part of the project, all 115,600 negatives included in the fonds will be evaluated and sorted. The images selected for digitization will be those with the greatest informational value.
In addition, to raise awareness about this archive fonds and its availability online, a promotion strategy targeting the media and the general public will be rolled out.
Jointly with our cultural mediation manager, we will develop an activity schedule for the two years of the project.
