Title:
Preserving Indigenous Governance, Rights and Title Records of Stó:lo Nation
Agreement Number:
2223-0014
Agreement Value:
$50,000.00
Agreement Date:
Apr 1, 2022 - Mar 31, 2023
Description:
This project will ensure the preservation and accessibility of records recently added to the Stó:lo Library and Archives, for the purpose of increasing access to, and awareness of, the history of the Stó:lo Nation. The Stó:lo Nation is an organization of Stó:lo communities, which has its roots in several forerunner organizations focused on Stó:lo governance and rights and title, including participation in the modern treaty process, dating to the 1970s.
Organization:
Library and Archives Canada
Expected Results:

Expected results from the project are improved storage conditions and improved finding aids for this large accession. Short-term results are that records most at-risk will have their storage conditions improved to prevent further decay of the records, and that improved finding aids will increase the accessibility of the entire accession. Long-term results are the addition of this important body of Stó:lo Nation/Stó:lo Service Agency records to the documentary heritage of Stó:lo communities. It is also expected that the Stó:lo modern treaty process will benefit from enhanced finding aids and improved preservation of these records as many of them pertain to work done by this Treaty group.
