Description:
The Archives of the Anglican Diocese of Toronto will work with a conservator specializing in paper conservation to improve the condition of twenty-five parish registers, which currently cannot be safely consulted, and ensure their long-term preservation, with the aim of continued access and future digitization.
Organization:
Library and Archives Canada
Expected Results:
The project is expected to greatly improve access to a collection of unique parish registers and ensure their long-term preservation. The conservation treatments will make them safe to handle and consult, while individual rehousing will reduce the rate of their deterioration. Following the project, the organization will have the ability to safely digitize the content. This would allow for indexing these registers for easier searching and access by the public and staff.
