Grants and Contributions:
Short-term result: to publish Indigenous manuscripts on the Univers culturel de Saint-Sulpice web portal, along with archival, linguistic, historical and, when possible, iconographic information; and to ensure that these documents can be consulted using a powerful search engine.
Other results desired over the longer term:
Raise awareness by Indigenous nations, universities, various specialists—historians, philologists, linguists, writers, sociologists, ethnologists and theologians—as well as those who take an interest in history, all of whom will have direct access to this rich collection for the first time
Foster new perspectives on the past and a better understanding of Canada’s history, especially relations between Indigenous peoples, the Sulpicians and the French colonists in America
Contribute, through knowledge, to the reconciliation of cultures
The Documentary Heritage Communities Program supports the development of Canada's local archival and library communities by increasing their capacity to preserve, provide access to, and promote local documentary heritage.
