Description:
This project builds upon a 2019–2020 digitization project by the Walpole Island Heritage Centre and aims to digitize existing documentary heritage related to the Anishinaabe language and culture held by the Heritage Centre and other Walpole Island First Nation departments and programs. The project collection includes hundreds of print documents, maps, language resources and educational materials, thousands of photographs, and hundreds of audiotapes (including micro-cassettes) and video recordings (VHS, mini DV, etc.) for preservation and accessibility.

Extending capacity to be a community resource for language and cultural heritage digitization
Creation of digital copies of the historical documents and audio/video recordings
Create descriptive metadata to aid greater access to discovery by community members
Devise and enact a preservation strategy for digital materials
Make digitized copies available to community and external users through a content management system
