Description:
This project will digitize and facilitate access to Indigenous oral histories of Treaties negotiated between the Crown and Indigenous nations in Canada. Beginning in 1989 the OTC has collected extensive oral histories from Indigenous Elders across Western Canada, preserving knowledge that has been passed down through generations on the negotiation, spirit and intent of Treaties.

A digitization technician will be hired to convert analog video to digital
Creation of digitized copies of 160 VHS; 335 Beta and 51 Audio Cassettes. Through this project, we intend to digitize approximately 550 items currently recorded on analogue formats such as cassette, VHS, and Beta into a digital medium
The Treaty Elders Advisory Council will advise on Indigenous protocols for sharing Treaty oral histories
