Agreement Value:
$49,615.00
Agreement Date:
Apr 1, 2023 - Mar 31, 2024
Description:
This project (1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024) will enable access to a part of Inuit and Canadian documentary heritage and increase ICC Canada’s capacity for collection management and information sharing. The key activities of ‘Describing and Discovery’ are: arrangement and description of all archival records, with multi-level, Rules for Archival Description (RAD)-compliant descriptions to the fonds/series/sub-series level (file- and item-level for some); and the installation and customization of software to manage and search archival descriptions and digital objects in English and Inuktitut (syllabics and Roman orthography).
Organization:
Library and Archives Canada
Expected Results:

The tangible short-term results of ‘Describing and Discovery’ are the arrangement and description of records of various media to at least the fonds/series level, and making those descriptions and associated existing digitized records publicly available via an archives management database with a personalised public search interface in English and Inuktitut. One long-term result is a sustained engagement by Inuit with the ICC Canada Archives and its holdings. A general long-term result is an increased interest in Inuit documentary heritage from across Canada and beyond.
