Description:
The Council of Yukon First Nations (CYFN) Archives Access Project application for 2023-24 DHCP focuses on completion of finding aids for records created by departments of CYFN and its predecessor organizations (Yukon Native Brotherhood, Yukon Association of Non-Status Indians, Council for Yukon Indians) from circa 1970 to 2010 including: Finance (170 boxes), Communications (18 boxes), Housing (58 boxes), Self Government Secretariat (85 boxes),; and for CYFN-Yukon Native Language Centre: Linguistic Research records (14 boxes) and @500 maps.

Expected Results:

Short-term results include specific tasks completed by Project Archivist to organize and describe 365 boxes of textual records and assist Yukon Native Language Centre Archivist Trainee with processing 500 maps. Long-term results will increase research use of records related to foundational organizations for Yukon land claims: YNB, YANSI, CYI and linguistic research records and maps of the Yukon Native Language Centre.
