Description:
This project will contribute to a five-year study that aims to undertake a comprehensive historical analysis of the changing land tenure of the Metis community at the Saskatchewan River Forks (Pahonanis) region, known alternately as Glen Mary/Pahonan/Horseshoe Bend, and determine the factors that led to the creation of a short-lived Metis rehabilitation colony on ‘Section 29’ in 1943.
As part of that work, this project will 1) develop a detailed spatial and narrative history of the Anglo-Scotch/Cree Metis; 2) create an innovative mixed-methods framework for comprehensive analysis and dissemination through the Gathering Together Digital Platform; and 3) build community capacity through training of community members and Indigenous students.
