Description:
The project aims to digitize, preserve, and provide access to EDAM’s collection of ¾” U-matic, ½” open reel, Hi8, VHS and Mini DV video tapes that document unique dance works presented at EDAM from 1982 to 2012. This will be the major archival project to commemorate forty years of EDAM, and aims to draw awareness to its important contribution to Canadian dance history, and internationally to the dance form Contact Improvisation.

Expected Results:
The expected results include 235 video tapes digitized and cataloged with descriptive and technical metadata, and made accessible via website. A significant commemorative project reflecting upon EDAM’s 40 years achieved. Preservation of EDAM’s unique archive, including consolidation of all assets on LTO-8 tapes enabling easier future migration and digital preservation.
