Title:
The Inuinnait Cultural Cloud
Agreement Number:
2526-0059
Agreement Value:
$52,665.00
Agreement Date:
Apr 1, 2025 - Mar 31, 2026
Description:
Our project will see the development of a new cloud based storage solution for roughly 8 TB of cultural records to address risks of aging servers, insecure data warehousing, data security gaps, and PI/KHS not benefiting from emerging technology. Working with Ampere (formerly known as Pinnguaq Association), the team will review the current data scope, and technology options; develop project workflows, design elements, and user Experience; execute the migration of data and the Web Application, with demonstrations & testing; and create easy-use portals for content upload and curation.
Organization:
Library and Archives Canada
Expected Results:
The short term results of this project will be the mass migration of digital records to a safer online repository. This process will entail the standardization of all record types into a single schema format, which will better enable their cross-referencing and search-ability. Anticipated long term results for the project will stem from its iterative development over time. By creating an Inuit controlled prototype cloud repository, the project opens new opportunities for integrating heritage resources into new software and online educational resources co-developed by PI/KHS and Ampere, including an existing LMS system, dictionary app, and online cultural programs.
