The organization aims to digitize original documents and video productions related to the advocacy for, and early experiments in, Vancouver's community cable system in the 1970s. The materials to be digitized are from two collections: Metro Media Society (est. 1971), and Vancouver Status of Women: Woman Alive (1975-1979).

Expected Results:

This project will result in two Vancouver media collections of unique, 1970s community cable productions being made freely accessible online to the general public and researchers. They will be accompanied by important manifestos and documents created by Vancouver’s community cable advocates just as there is growing interest in television history broadly, and early Canadian broadcast experiments specifically.
