The project aims to achieve the following outcomes:
Preservation of Heritage: Secure the documentation of oral histories from Cree-speaking Elders and individuals with expertise in guiding, trapping, and mountain culture.
Increased Accessibility: Develop a publicly accessible digital archive containing oral histories, photographs, maps, and diaries.
Community Engagement: Strengthen connections between local communities and their heritage by showcasing their stories and contributions.
Capacity Building: Enhance the organization’s ability to sustain and preserve Canada’s documentary heritage through training, digitization, and improved archival practices.
The Documentary Heritage Communities Program supports the development of Canada's local archival and library communities by increasing their capacity to preserve, provide access to, and promote local documentary heritage.
