Title:
CIIP – Brazil – Development and commercialization of a simple, rapid and low cost nucleic acid test for the diagnosis of infection with hepatitis C virus (HCV)
Agreement Value:
$210,000.00
Agreement Date:
Jul 16, 2018 - Jul 31, 2022
Description:
CIIP-Brazil project with Dentillo e Gavio identificação e quantificação molecular Ltda ME. HCV is known to kill approximately 1.4 million people each year largely in low and middle-income countries (LMIC) where access to testing and treatment is very limited. Working with our partners in Brazil, we wish to co-develop and commercialize a novel patent-protected isothermal nucleic acid amplification technology (NAT) that can be used as a point of care diagnostic assay to rapidly detect HCV nucleic acids from dry blood spots (DBS). This technology has the same sensitivity as the gold standard tests for HCV but is simpler to use, provides results much more rapidly and at a much lower cost.
