Description:

eThor plans to invest heavily into R&D work around the data the company has access to in merchant point of sale (POS) systems. One of the most difficult aspects of this is that there's no set standard when it comes to syntax or naming of items. Even within a single chain with the exact same menu and exact same POS system, one item could be named a variety of different ways. This makes it extremely difficult to do data analytics of consumer purchases at various merchants. Through the use of machine learning, we are hoping to find a way to better link identical products across different merchant locations in an effort to provide useful data back to the merchant in a meaningful way. This will also serve as a foundation for future products.
