Description:
NRC is providing financial support to help facilitate this virtual event, which will act as a nexus of government, academia, and industry accessible to attendees, and in particular students, early career researchers and young professionals from across Canada. It provides a community to exchange perspectives, share scientific findings, ideas, and strategies, and most importantly, create solutions. The program includes a portfolio of symposia, panels, and open discussions centred around equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).

Expected Results:

The purpose of the specific EDI initiatives within the overall conference are to provide:
1) Live programming that
a. celebrates EDI champions within the community, providing a platform for their stories;
b. explores the importance of allies in furthering EDI (equity, diversity and inclusion) conversations;
2) Live interactive forum to catalyze conversations around EDI and facilitate mentorship within the community; and
3) Registration support to encourage the inclusion of diverse groups at the conference, while also increasing the accessibility for underrepresented groups in STEM.
