Agreement Number:

Agreement Value:
$208,038.00
Agreement Date:
Aug 12, 2020 - Mar 31, 2021
Description:
Glas Ocean Electric (GOE) will study six boats from fishing, touring and working categories in the 35 feet to 45 feet range. The collaborative research Project will be based in Atlantic Canada due to COVID 19 restrictions. The Project will include direct and correlated measurements of the emissions, power and speed. GOE will work with NRC researchers from the Ocean, Coastal and River Engineering Research Centre to correlate metrology data with emissions data collected from boats to identify how weather impacts emissions and power use. Additionally, Katal, a Canada small and medium sized enterprise, will supply reduced emissions fuel for a segment of the collaborative research Project. This fuel will be used in a selection of boats
and the emissions of these boats will be compared to the emissions of boats using regular diesel. The results of the collaborative research Project will provide opportunities for emission reductions for Canadas marine industry as it transitions away from 100% fossil fuels.
