Title:
Immunomagnetic capture of viral particles in biofluids
Agreement Number:
970968
Agreement Value:
$109,938.00
Agreement Date:
Apr 21, 2021 - Mar 30, 2022
Description:
Since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, the analysis of viral sequences isolated from patient samples has become essential for tracking virus variants and determining which mutations affect the viral proteins and influence its pathogenicity or its infectiousness. Purification of the viral particles prior to the required RNA sequencing would reduce the cost of sequencing and is less biased than alternative methods based on targeted sequencing or amplification of the viral genome. In this Project, the Recipient aims to develop protocols to optimize the purification of viral particles on the PowerBlade Platform, and subsequently, through sequencing, develop protocols for the identification of viral strains on the device.
Organization:
National Research Council Canada
Expected Results:

In the short term, anticipated outcomes will be strengthened collaborations across industry, academia, and government to support research excellence. In the medium term, anticipated outcomes will be the development of new and potentially disruptive technologies with collaborators. In the long term, find collaborative solutions to public policy challenges and create stronger innovation systems.
