Title:
Optimizing Fungi Reduction with UVC light
Agreement Number:
971172
Agreement Value:
$40,000.00
Agreement Date:
Apr 1, 2021 - Mar 31, 2022
Description:
A major challenge facing the agricultural industry, and in particular greenhouse and indoor growers, is the impact pathogens have on crop yield, both quantity and quality. Powdery mildew poses a significant threat to a number of agricultural crops. Following the onset of COVID-19, the use of UVC as a disinfectant has taken off. A number of lighting companies have emerged to provide the market with UVC based solutions for room and instrument disinfection. The application of UVC with plants is a new approach to plant protection, only recently made possible with the discovery of night time UVC application. Our project will identify: • The optimal UVC dosage. • The optimal apparatus to support the application of the UVC for each crop.
