Description:

This project is focused on the development of sensor technology and inventory management hardware for monitoring and managing fishing gear/traps. Specifically aimed to develop technologies that will allow for: - A robust method (adapting near field communication technologies) for the automated tracking and inventory of commercial lobster and crab traps. - The tracking/retrieval of lost lobster and crab traps that are found/recovered. - A method for logging viable catch weights on a trap or trawl-by-trawl basis (with geolocation tagging/mapping).
