To develop an AI-YOLO (You Only Look Once) based object recognition detection software, integrated with drones, for critical infrastructure inspections. YOLO is an open-sourced, real-time object recognition algorithm for object: • Identification? • Classification • Localization YOLO will be used for 3 critical reasons • Speed: Can predict objects in real-time • Accuracy: Accurate results with minimal background errors • Learning capabilities: Enabled to learn the representations of objects and apply them in object detection Once complete, the platform will • Identify utility poles • Classify utility poles (power, communication, etc) • Define pole coordinates • Travel to the pole • Identify critical infrastructure
