Title:
Towards river ice jam release flood modelling in TELEMAC: Testing of KHIONE and further module development
Agreement Number:
984646
Agreement Value:
$151,698.00
Agreement Date:
Mar 1, 2022 - Feb 28, 2025
Description:
The objectives of this project are to test and further advance river ice modelling capabilities in the open-source hydrodynamic modelling package TELEMAC. This will be achieved by testing the capabilities of the existing KHIONE module for simulating frazil ice generation, and through development and implementation of dynamic ice cover routines within TELEMAC. The long-term objective is to develop capabilities to model river ice break-up processes. These new routines will be tested with available data on river ice cover dynamics.
Organization:
National Research Council Canada
Expected Results:

In the short term, anticipated outcomes will be strengthened collaborations across industry, academia, and government to support research excellence. In the medium term, anticipated outcomes will be the development of new and potentially disruptive technologies with collaborators. In the long term, find collaborative solutions to public policy challenges and create stronger innovation systems.
