Grants and Contributions:
Identify and address major issues of importance to science and society; facilitate interaction among scientists across all disciplines and from all countries; promote the participation of all scientists – regardless of race, citizenship, language, political stance, or gender – in the international scientific endeavour; provide independent, authoritative advice to stimulate constructive dialogue between the scientific community and governments, civil society and the private sector; and provide access to and participate in international industrial research and commercialization.
NRC maintains, on behalf of the government of Canada, memberships in the Scientific Committee on Solar-Terrestrial Physics (SCOSTEP) and its scientific unions, which promotes international scientific activity. Canada’s involvement in international science and technology organizations promotes international market-oriented research and innovation, networking, advocacy, leadership and benchmarking opportunities as well as access to research and benchmarking possibilities, enabling Canadian science, technology, and industry to remain competitive.
