Description:
The proposed project will be focused on conducting feasibility studies, at R&D scale, on creating multiple coproducts from the waste stream. Specifically, the project will include:
1. Researching the specifications of low, medium, and high value coproducts, conducting chemical analysis of Mara’s waste stream and coproducts, with particular focus on the nutritional value and the specifications required by the relevant product.
2. Reviewing literature and researching methods to separate lipid fractions from aqueous phase, performing feasibility trials to extract high omega-3 lipid fractions from the waste stream.
3. Optimizing ultrafiltration process to improve cost efficiency for producing medium value coproducts at scale.
