Description:
A quantum network seeks to coherently connect small quantum devices together to solve useful problems that are not accessible with current quantum computing technologies. The leading quantum computing technology relies on superconducting quantum circuits operating in the microwave regime. The most advanced quantum communication technology required to connect quantum devices over distances is quantum photonics. The Project will develop a quantum transducer capable of connecting superconducting quantum devices over a quantum photonic network. The hardware involves spins in semiconductors, a quantum technology proven to operate in both the microwave and optical domains which, therefore, it is ideal for this application, but dual operation has not yet been demonstrated.
Organization:
National Research Council Canada
Expected Results:
In the short term, anticipated outcomes will be strengthened collaborations across industry, academia, and government to support research excellence. In the medium term, anticipated outcomes will be the development of new and potentially disruptive technologies with collaborators. In the long term, find collaborative solutions to public policy challenges and create stronger innovation systems.
