Title:
Quantum magnetometer based on Pauli spin blockade in a double quantum dot at the ultimate atomic scale - Phase 1
Agreement Number:
994654
Agreement Value:
$192,500.00
Agreement Date:
Jul 30, 2022 - Mar 31, 2025
Description:
The ability of birds to navigate over incredibly long distances appears to take root in a quantum phenomenon known as Pauli spin blockade. This project mimics Nature by building and studying a man-made Pauli spin blockade magnetometer from our core expertise in (i) single spin physics in nanoscale devices at the Institut quantique (IQ) for experiments and McGill University for theory, (ii) scanning probe capabilities and nanofabrication expertise at the National Research Council, and (iii) the ground-breaking work on single atom circuits by Quantum Silicon Inc. (QSi). This QSP project is intended to be a first proof-of-concept to demonstrate the viability of our approach towards marketable quantum sensors within Quantum Silicon’s product portfolio.
Organization:
National Research Council Canada
Expected Results:

In the short term, anticipated outcomes will be strengthened collaborations across industry, academia, and government to support research excellence. In the medium term, anticipated outcomes will be the development of new and potentially disruptive technologies with collaborators. In the long term, find collaborative solutions to public policy challenges and create stronger innovation systems.
